Malton Foods relaunches Chesswood Creamed Mushrooms in microwaveable pot


North Yorkshire based, Malton Foods, part of the Zwanenberg Food Group UK, has relaunched its iconic Chesswood Creamed Mushrooms in a new and convenient microwaveable pot.

After ceasing production of the canned creamy mushrooms product nearly 12 months ago, following a business decision to exit from the canned grocery category and move into new ambient formats in rigid and flexible plastics, consumers can now enjoy the great taste of Chesswood Creamed Mushrooms in a quicker, more convenient way.

The new 200g microwaveable pots have been launched in response to increase in requests for Chesswood mushrooms from customers, who were desperate to find a replacement for their canned favourite, which is frequently used on toast as a quick snack or as an ingredient in pies and vol au vents.

Robert Burns, marketing controller at Malton Foods, said: “We are delighted to announce the relaunch of Chesswood Creamed Mushrooms, in response to the growing number of requests via email, letter and phone from shoppers – it is a much loved brand with consumers, and now we are pleased to announce, it is now back, in a convenient and handy, 200g microwaveable pot.

“Chesswood Creamed Mushrooms is all about mushrooms made simple and this new, convenient format really reflects this. It’s the same great recipe and taste that consumers loved in a can, but now it’s in a pot.

The new microwaveable pots of creamed mushrooms were launched in December 2015 – at a retail price of £1.19 – and are now available through independent retailers in the North West and Manchester, as well as Booths Stores across the North East, Manchester and Yorkshire with further listings to follow throughout 2016.
