Spar retailer and wholesaler AF Blakemore has been presented with a certificate of appreciation for its ongoing support of the Poppy Appeal by The Royal British Legion.

The certificate presentation (11 April 2012) was arranged by The Royal British Legion (South Staffs County) and celebrated the continuous support given to the organisation by Blakemore Wholesale’s Wolverhampton cash and carry and AF Blakemore’s charitable trust, the Blakemore Foundation.

Over the last 12 months £550 worth of goods has been donated to the charity to support numerous fundraising events.

The Royal British Legion’s community fundraiser, Alison Bates, said: “The Legion is putting £50m into helping injured Armed Forces to recover, including £30m for The Royal British Legion Battle Back Centre for sport and adventure training, to have the support of AF Blakemore and the Blakemore Foundation allows us to maximise our events and fundraising activities.”

Royal British Legion local Poppy Appeal organiser, Phil Robinson, said: “The Battle Back Centre will be a national centre of excellence for adaptive sport and adventurous training to help Service personnel recover and either return to duty, or reskill and make a successful transition to civilian life, everyone who donates to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal helps to ensure major projects can be funded.”

AF Blakemore said it will continue to support the charity, to help make a positive impact in the community it serves.
