Ascom has completed a deal to supply a well-known Top 7 UK supermarket chain with worker mobile phones and supporting information management software.
The technology specialist, which works with five of the UK’s top seven supermarket chains, has tailored its package of solutions to ensure reliable, uninterrupted, in-store communication for staff across all sites.
Ascom will equip supermarket employees with i62 Wi-Fi mobile phones. The handsets which are used to send and receive tasks, will be driven by management information collated from across the stores and head office, and dispatched by the integrated Ascom Unite platform.
Key to securing the extension agreement was Ascom’s ability to prove that the rugged, drop resistant i62 Wi-Fi mobile phone and the open Unite platform fully integrate with the supermarket’s planned instore communications infrastructure for the next three years and beyond.
Paul Lawrence, managing director Ascom UK, says: “I am always pleased when a business chooses our products or services, but it means even more when a customer chooses to extend their work with us. An incredible amount of hard work underpins every long-standing business relationship, so I am delighted that we’ll be working with our supermarket partner for a further three years.
“The i62 mobile handsets and Ascom Unite continue to be an essential communications platform for this supermarket’s in-store colleagues. Looking ahead, the openness of the technology means it will support the chain’s technology ambitions and help to maximise future investments, so we are thrilled to be continuing this fantastic working partnership.”
Ascom products and solutions help retailers trim costs, remove bottlenecks and maximise shopper satisfaction with customised mobile communication solutions like advanced systems integrating product recall alerting, click and collect notifications, delivery time notifications and till to colleague communications.
