Asda is stocking gaming accessories from the UK brand Gioteck in 350 of its stores from 6 August 2012.

At the same time, Gioteck has appointed distributor Solutions 2 GO (S2G) to build its business in the US. 

Solutions 2 GO is a specialist distributor of video game products, whose major customers include Wal-Mart, Kmart and Costco.

Gioteck’s Asda listing follows on from a deal with the German retail giant MSH (Media Markt & Saturn), which is stocking the gaming accessories brand in 390 stores.

Matthew Lamprell, CEO, Gioteck, said: “Retailers understand accessories are becoming an increasingly important part of the gaming category mix. Within five years, we believe retailers will be making the majority of their revenue from hardware and not software, which puts us in a very strong position.”

Alan Jones, general manager, Gioteck, said: “The growing influence of supermarket business is now reflected in our distribution not just in the UK but also in overseas markets. Our ability to provide distinctively designed products in appealing packaging as well as value for money ensures our range is a strong performer in the gaming category wherever in the world it is ranged.”

Gioteck showcased its new and existing range of gaming peripherals (controllers, headsets, and gaming chairs) in Los Angeles, this week, to coincide with the E3 show.

Lamprell said North America is a strategically important market for Gioteck.

“We have achieved 630% sales growth over the last 12 months and grabbed a 22% share in the PS3 third party gaming headset market this year to date,” he said.

“The potential in the US is very exciting and we are focused on delivering a profitable product range for our US retail customers. Solutions 2 Go is a great partner to help drive this growth.”
