Eighty school children from six Black Country schools put their best striking skills into action at the ninth annual AF Blakemore Junior Football Competition.

Pupils from Bantock, Busil Jones, Castle, Fibbersley Park, Harden and Hillary Primary Schools fought it out on the football pitches at Goals soccer centre on Wednesday (13 July 2011) for the coveted Blakemore’s cup.

Employees from AF Blakemore’s logistics division organised the event which included refereeing the matches, keeping score and were on hand to provide refreshments and snacks throughout the day.

Pupils from Harden primary School battled it out in the final match against Bantock A, with Harden Primary stealing a 5-1 victory.

Blakemore logistics’ Lee Venables said: “The pupils had a great day and it was good to see such a big turn out from Black Country schools, many of which we support through study tours, reading volunteering and events such as Road Safety week.”
