An employee from Spar wholesaler, AF Blakemore, has completed a 227 mile cycle challenge from Holyhead to Pontypool in aid of the Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Iestyn Rhodes from AF Blakemore’s IT Support team raised £1,000 for Bristol Children’s Hospital by cycling for three days across the Welsh countryside.

Rhodes chose to support Bristol Children’s Hospital after his eldest son Harri, five, was born with transposition of the main arteries and received exceptional care from the hospital.

Rhodes said: “I had a fantastic journey and blessed with amazing weather every day. The trip encountered a few challenges including two punctures and my disturbingly ‘clunky’ pedals but these thankfully didn’t affect the challenge too much.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to the Blakemore Foundation who have provided a match fund and purchased the bike rack and pannier bag.

“We also received some fantastic support from Eurospar Builth Wells who kindly refuelled us with water and bananas on the final push to the finish on day three.”
