Employees from Blakemore Foodservice have donated £6,000 to Birmingham Children’s Hospital through 12 months of fundraising initiatives.

Employees nominated Birmingham Children’s Hospital as their charity of the year for 2012/13 and held a number of fundraising activities throughout the year including a sponsored walk, bake sales, Jenga competitions, dress down days and raffles to name but a few.

The donation will be used to support the Children’s Cancer Centre Appeal. The brilliant donation will help to refurbish and expand the current Cancer unit by providing more bed spaces and better facilities for a unit that is over 30 years old and cares for over 10% of children with Cancer in the UK.

Blakemore Foodservice community champion, Sharon Garner, said: “The whole team have really got behind our charity of the year, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and we have had an incredible amount of support to achieve the £6,000 total.

“All of our fundraising efforts were match funded by the Blakemore Foundation, the company’s charitable trust.

“We hope that the money will make a huge difference to the lives of the children coping with cancer.”

Helen Bell, corporate partnerships associate, said: “The team have worked so hard all year to reach this fantastic amount. The donation will help to get us even closer to our £4 million appeal. We can’t thank the team enough for all of their hard work and support throughout the year.”
