Blakemore Retail senior regional manager Owen Davies and Area Manager Donna Cooper joined colleagues from SPAR Kidderminster to attend life-saving defibrillator training in May.

The training took place at local care home Bryden House and was delivered by training provider Double M Emergency Response Training.

Kidderminster store manager Scott Bridgewater and assistant manager Chantal Doyle attended the defibrillator training session with Owen and Donna, which also included basic CPR and first aid.

Colleagues at the Kidderminster store recently supported the care home’s fundraising to install a defibrillator at its reception, and with funding from the Blakemore Foundation £200 was donated to the good cause.

When Bryden House successfully reached its fundraising target, the care home invited store colleagues and representatives from the veterinary surgery to attend training on how to use the defibrillator in the case of an emergency.

The three companies frequently band together and support each other as the SPAR store shares a carpark with the veterinary centre and the care home is nearby.

Donna commented: “It was important for us all to attend the training as learning how to correctly use a defibrillator is an essential life skill.

“I personally found it a really useful training session as we also covered basic CPR and first aid, and I was amazed to learn how much of a difference a defibrillator can make when used effectively.

“It was also inspiring to see the three businesses working together, so as to be prepared should an emergency ever arise in the area.”
