Blakemore Retail has opened a new, purpose-built petrol forecourt store in Louth, Lincolnshire.
The store, situated on the Fairfield Industrial Estate, is the first of Blakemore Retail’s sites to combine a Spar convenience offer with both Greggs and Subway franchises, providing motorists and local residents with a one-stop fuel, convenience, restaurant and takeaway solution.
Blakemore Retail managing director, Geoff Hallam, said: “This new development involves a substantial investment from the company and is part of an ongoing programme of investment in our stores estate, involving both the acquisition of new stores and renovation of existing ones.
“The Greggs and Subway concessions, with their well-known and trusted brands, should help drive sales and footfall as well as ensure that the store appeals to a wide demographic, including commuters and the local neighbourhood.”
The Mayor of Louth officially opened the site on 1 November along with one of Blakemore Retail’s longest serving employees, Steve Bruce, who has achieved 45 years’ service at the company’s nearby Market Place store. The Fairfield store organised a fun day for members of the local community involving a range of free food giveaways.
As well as ranges from Spar, Subway and Greggs, the store offers Costa Coffee and provides a wide range of additional services including a free-to-use cash machine, PayPoint and National Lottery.
The Shell petrol station features two HGV fast-fill pumps, eight standard fuel pumps, a jet wash and three electric car charging points. Approximately thirty parking spaces are available for visitors to the site.
Store manager Michele Lawson said: “The launch day had a great turnout and provided us with a really good opportunity to start establishing the store in the local community.”
“As Louth’s first 24-hour forecourt I’m confident that the store will prove to be a great asset to the town.”
Fairfield is Blakemore Retail’s second new build this financial year, following on from King’s Lynn, which opened in Norfolk in July.
Meanwhile, an enterprising Spar retailer has increased footfall to their store by introducing a new 24-hour laundry service.
Hockmeyer Motors is a family owned business, which operates a Spar convenience store with Texaco petrol forecourt in Sleaford, Lincolnshire.
In April this year it introduced a new outdoor laundry service to its site after the idea was suggested on a visit from Blakemore Trade Partners.
Customers can choose an £8 wash, a £4 wash or a £1 dry from the self-service Revolution laundry unit, which is available 24 hours a day.
