Frozen cake manufacturer, Erlenbacher, is targeting the trend of mobile food with the launch of the Cakewich; cakes cut into triangular portions that can be eaten on-the-go.

The Cakewich comes in two flavours; strawberry and chocolate. Both have sponge layers produced to ensure the products keep their shape, the company claims. Conical bags are also available to make them an ideal treat whilst on the move.

The Strawberry Cakewich is made of two sponge layers filled with strawberry cream, strawberry fruit mix and chopped strawberries. The Chocolate Cakewich consists of two chocolate sponge layers complete with chocolate cream and wafer.

According to Erlenbacher, Cakewiches are a versatile product that can be sold across the counter. The product defrosts at room temperature in only half an hour.  They come as 19.5 x 29cm pre-cut tray bakes. Individual portions measure 9 x 9 x 12.5cm and are approximately 3cm thick.

Erlenbacher also claims to have reinvented the classic slice of cake by offering new individually portioned Love Cakes. They come in four flavours; Raspberry, Fudge, Chocolate-Banana and Cheesecake.

According to the company, the concept of the mini cakes is based upon convenience and versatility, making them the perfect product for restaurants, hotels, coffee shops and catering facilities.

The individual portions also mean the cakes are easy to defrost within one to two hours making them highly practical, it adds. Trays come with 12 individual portions and each box contains three trays.
