Grosvenor Europe has announced that Lunya, the family-owned Catalunyan restaurant bar and deli, is moving to a new location on the corner of College Lane and Hanover Street, opposite BBC Radio Merseyside, as part of the business’s expansion plans. Relocating from its current home on Liverpool ONE’s College Lane, the multi-award winning independent business is to open its new 5,500sq ft site this October.

Lunya’s new location will provide the brand with a significant shop-front onto Hanover Street and will offer more integrated dining, bar and deli room, whilst maintaining the cosy and elegant styling the brand has become famed for.  The restaurant and bar will serve the best of Spanish gastronomy in a relaxed and informal setting, with a huge array of Spanish wines, spirits, beers and gins, whilst the deli will offer the best products from Spain.

The new Hanover Street location will also allow Lunya to consolidate its business, expanding the range available in its deli and increasing the number and size of its regular events, which range from wine and food tasting evenings to gin experiences.  Using Liverpool ONE as a base to raise awareness amongst customers, Lunya has also grown to become the UK’s largest online Spanish food and drink deli, which they are planning to further expand with the move.

Founders Elaine and Peter Kinsella are injecting an added £150,000 investment into the new site and will create ten additional jobs, taking their Liverpool workforce to 55.  The move will happen in early October, with Lunya closing down in one site and overnight opening in its new location.

Co-founder Elaine Kinsella explained: “Although we and our customers love our existing site in Liverpool ONE, an opportunity arose with a new location offering all the extra space and facilities that was just too good to miss.  We’re confident all of our many loyal customers will love it.”

Alison Clegg, director, Asset Management at Grosvenor Europe, added: “Lunya is a great success story and we are delighted to be accommodating their growth.  We have worked very closely with Peter and his team over the years, always focused on ensuring they thrive.  It is very satisfying to see the business outgrowing its current home and expanding into another great location within Liverpool ONE.”

Lunya is a significant addition to Liverpool ONE’s Hanover Street, which has become established as one of the most exciting dining destinations in the North West.  The news also coincides with an increase in restaurant sales at Liverpool ONE, as consumers increasingly visit for a day-out experience that combines shopping with leisure and socialising.
