Boulder Brands has secured further UK listings for its innovative gluten-free food brand Udi’s, as its full range becomes available from online supermarket, Ocado and six product lines are added by Sainsbury’s.
This comes following the success of Udi’s UK launch in October 2013 and subsequent roll out into Tesco and Asda.
Adding to the brand’s existing UK listings in two of the biggest supermarket chain, new retail confidence and consumer interest in the gluten-free category keeps on building as Udi’s rolls out on Ocado and into Sainsbury’s stores nationwide.
Simon Hazlett, Boulder Brands UK managing director, said: “Feedback following Udi’s arrival in the UK has been fantastic and we aim to continue growing our position as one of the most accessible and innovative gluten-free brands in the UK market. Securing these further two significant listings is a positive step forward for the brand as part of our strategic growth plan.”
The move forms part of the company’s aim to become “category captain” driving the market by continuing to innovate and increase choice for the consumer.
Growing by an average of 10% year on year, the quickly evolving category is estimated to grow to £519m by 2016, as a result of innovative product launches and increased investment in consumer communication.
Hazlett said: “We have seen a 40-50% year-on-year growth across our brands in the US, a trend that I think will be replicated over here. This is a dynamic market showing strong growth driven through improved quality, product innovation and investment into category by both suppliers and retailers. The key to our growth is giving consumers the choice to enjoy a full range of quality gluten-free food without compromise.”
The number one range in the US and Canada, Udi’s Gluten Free has already won numerous awards across the continents including Best Gluten Free Bagels, Best Gluten Free Sandwich Bread and Best Gluten Free Rolls.
Udi’s is available in selected Tesco, Asda, and Sainsbury’s stores throughout the UK and from Ocado.com
