Spar wholesaler and retailer CJ Lang has completed its acquisition of AM Landsburgh (St Andrews) and added 10 stores to its 95-strong estate.
Scott Malcolm, managing director of CJ Lang, said: “When we sold our cash & carry and foods services division at the end of last year we stated our focus would be on growing our Spar business. The investment made to secure AML’s 10 Spar stores is a demonstration of that commitment and great news for Spar Scotland.
“We are grateful to the Landsburgh family, with whom we have enjoyed a highly valued trading relationship over many years and who have been fantastic supporters of the Spar brand, for giving us the chance to acquire their company. Our immediate priorities are to ensure a seamless integration of the AML business and assess store development opportunities which will involve further investment.
“This acquisition rounds off what has been a very positive year for CJ Lang’s in terms of strategic refocus. Disposing of a non-core business has been pivotal in allowing us to expand our Spar company-owned store estate this year by a total of 15, taking us to 105 stores.
“With more company stores in the pipeline and the benefit of organic growth being derived from our recently launched and well received rewards incentives for Spar independent retailers, the business is well positioned for the future.”
