The Co-operative has won two gold awards for an own brand vintage Champagne and is celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a Champagne offer.
The Co-operative Les Pionniers 2004 Champagne, which is available in Co-operative food stores across the UK and is named after The Co-operative’s founders, the Rochdale Pioneers, has been awarded Gold medals at both the International Wine Challenge (IWC) and the Decanter World Wine Awards.
Judges at the IWC, which included Tim Atkin MW, Oz Clarke and Charles Metcalfe, said the £24.99 bubbly was “well balanced” and had a “biscuity fruity aroma, with inviting fruits on the palate”.
Meanwhile, from 23 May 2012 to 12 June 2012 inclusive, the Aubert & Fils Champagne, which is usually £29.99, will be on sale at £12.99 a bottle.
It is described as a classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier that harmoniously combines richness with finesse.
The Aubert and Champagne will be available at Co-operative Food stores nationwide, while stocks last.
