One: ethical lines

The Co-operative Group, which was first to market with One Quilted Toilet Tissue and One Handwash earlier this year, has extended the sale of the ethical products to a wider base of Co-operative and Somerfield stores across the UK.

Originally launched in a selected number of stores, One Toilet Tissue (four rolls) is now on sale in more than 1,300 Co-operative and Somerfield stores, priced £2.35, and the moisturising anti-bacterial One Handwash (250ml) is available in some 350 stores, priced £1.69.

All One’s profits from the sale of both products goes directly towards the One Foundation to fund sanitation projects in Africa, where access to decent sanitation can prove life-threatening, especially for vulnerable children under five and the elderly.

The One Foundation is the charitable division of Global Ethics the UK-based company behind the One range of products, whose profits fund humanitarian projects in developing countries.

A staggering 2.5bn people in the developing world don’t have access to decent sanitation – that’s 37% of the population of the planet. And 1.8m children under the age of five die each year from diarrhoea – that’s 5,000 every day.
