Mairs: chef role at The Co-operative Food

The Co-operative Food is relaunching its Eat In ready meals range as Ready to Cook range with new and ready-prepared meat and poultry lines, and a selection of vegetable side dishes.

The retailer has also appointed Graham Mairs, the former head chef and innovation manager of the M Kitchen range at Morrisons, as development and innovation chef.

The revamped ready meals range is aimed at busy customers who want high quality, fresh meal ideas that look and taste like they have been prepared at home, but don’t always have time to scratch cook at home every evening.

Serving two people, the new meat and poultry lines – including Sticky Teriyaki Beef, Lamb Rump Steaks with Pea, Lemon and Mint Crumble, and Pork Medallions with a Creamy Calvados and Apple Sauce – take advantage of current food trends and make tasty, inspirational and filling evening meals when served with one or more of the ready-prepared vegetable accompaniments or a selection of fresh vegetables, the retailer claims.

In addition, many of the more popular, classic lines have been improved even further, to ensure that shoppers can still pick up their favourite dishes from the range, The Co-operative Food said.

To accompany the new Ready to Cook lines, The Co-operative is relaunching its prepared vegetable side dishes, which will include two new microwavable products – The Co-operative courgette, asparagus and fine beans, and The Co-operative Courgette, Tenderstem Broccoli and Butternut Squash. There are also new Stuffed Peppers; sweet roasted red pepper halves crammed with long grain rice, cream cheese, red onion, cream and extra-mature Cheddar, and Stuffed Mushrooms with Wensleydale and Leek. 

The Co-operative is also relaunching its chilled desserts range with a selection of new and improved cheesecakes, puddings, crumbles and cold desserts.

New to the range is the Truly Irresistible Lemon and Ricotta Cheesecake, while mproved lines include a Truly Irresistible Raspberry Pannacotta twinpack.

The standard lines in the new ranges will also move to The Co-operative’s Loved by us branding.
