Co-operative Food: plans for first key events of 2014

The Co-operative Food is launching a raft of new products and offers for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter.

The retailer claims it is spoiling its shoppers on Valentine’s Day with a Truly Irresistible meal deal for two for only £15.00, plus a whole host of gift options for that special someone.

For the perfect romantic night in, customers can take advantage of the premium own-brand meal deal, which includes a selection of Truly Irresistible dishes, including British Sirloin Steak with Pink Peppercorn and Champagne Butter and vegetarian options. For just £15.00, love-struck couples can pick up a starter, a main course and side dish, a delicious dessert and a bottle of Truly Irresistible wine or delightful own-brand Cava.

The Co-operative Food said it also has lots of gifts in store this Mother’s Day (30 March 2014), from floral bouquets to chocolate treats.

The community retailer has a plethora of beautiful bouquets, perfect for surprising mum on Mother’s Day morning. Priced at £5.00, The Co-operative’s Special Mum bouquet is a collection of pink, cream and lilac Chrysanths and Carnations. Meanwhile, those looking to splash out will love The Co-operative Mother’s Dream bouquet with its mix of Roses, Chrysanths, Gerbera, Waxflower, Antirrhunium and Eucalyptus Robusta in pinks and whites, for £20.00.

And, for green-fingered mums, there’s a great range of pretty plants, too. The Co-operative Mother’s Day Basket (£10.00) is an arrangement of foliages and flowering plants, or The Co-operative Single Stem Orchid, £12.00, presented in a ceramic pot, will also make a great gift, the retailer said.

There’s also a bunch of Fairtrade roses, especially for Mother’s Day, for just £10.00. Last year, the convenience retailer became the first to convert all of its standard roses to Fairtrade, helping growers in Kenya get a better deal.

There is something for everyone at The Co-operative Food this Easter with lots of  treats in store, including a new Easter egg trio, the retailer reports.

There are two new and exciting Easter eggs to try, which have been introduced to the community retailer’s Loved by us range. The Co-operative’s Loved by us Milk Chocolate and Popcorn Egg (140g, £5.00) is described as the ultimate sweet treat, with popcorn pieces smothered in  milk chocolate and hand decorated with caramelised hazelnut pieces, milk chocolate and white chocolate. Alternatively, The Co-operative Loved by us Milk Chocolate and Popping Candy Egg (160g, £5.00) features popping candy bits within the milk chocolate shell, which is also speckled with  jelly and chocolate beans.

New to The Co-operative’s premium range, the Truly Irresistible Fairtrade Milk Chocolate and Butterscotch Egg (£7.50) has a Fairtrade milk chocolate shell with crunchy butterscotch, decorated with milk, white and dark crisp chocolate balls.
