Co-operative scoops trio of Quality Food Awards

The Co-operative has scooped three Quality Food Awards, including one for its Truly Irresistible Brandy Butter Ice Cream, new for Christmas 2010.

The ice cream won the Christmas Confectionery category with judges praising its strong brandy aroma and frozen yogurt texture.

The Co-operative Steak Slice won the Q Award in the Food to Go category and was commended for being excellent value for money. Rrp is £1.00.

The third award went to The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Gluten Free Pork Sausages in the Free-From category.

Judges said the product measured up favourably against other premium sausages.

The Co-operative was also highly commended in a further five categories.

The Quality Food Awards is an established annual event for food and drink products on sale in UK grocery retail outlets.

The judging panel comprises top chefs, food writers, home economists, nutritionists, retailers and consultants.
