The Co-operative Group is to provide live national broadcast coverage of the Royal Wedding on its in-store radio for customers and staff across the UK on 29 April 2011.

The broadcasts will be transmitted in all Co-operative food stores with satellite in-store radio, via a live stream link up with IRN News, in partnership with Sky News. The stream will be delivered via The Mood Media’s satellite in-store radio system.

Bulletins will come live from London and from Westminster Abbey, as well as covering street parties across the country.

According to the retailer, every second of the build up, the wedding ceremony and the celebrations afterwards will be covered live, so customers who need to pop to their local Co-operative store, or staff working on the big day, won’t miss out as the fairytale wedding unfolds.

Sean Toal, commercial director at The Co-operative Food, said: “Everybody’s getting excited as the Royal Wedding draws near, so we wanted to make sure our shoppers and staff can share in this special occasion.

“We’re geared up to help everybody celebrate the big day in style, with everything from Union Jack bunting to cracking Champagne offers, we’ve even got special Royal Wedding cupcakes.

“However, we don’t want our customers to miss out on any of this historic event, if they need to pop to their local Co-operative store for supplies.”
