Easy Bean, the premium prepared meals company, has extended its presence in Waitrose with four of its vegetarian one-pot meals now available in 114 stores.
Easy Bean is also available at 20 Booths stores, independent outlets, via Waitrose.com, Ocado and naturalgrocery.co.uk. It is available to the trade from Suma Wholefoods, The Health Store, Queenswood, Best of the West, Longman Cheese Sales, Marigold and Independent Irish Health Foods.
Christina Baskerville, who established the company in 2007 in her Dorset kitchen, said: “We are delighted to be sold in so many Waitrose stores as we know Waitrose customers already enjoy our products. Our pots win the taste test against competitors every time and we are often told how versatile they are – the dishes can be eaten heated up as they are for a quick and tasty lunch or added to rice, cous cous or a jacket potato for a delicious, healthy evening meal. We call this ‘lunch on the go or supper in a mo’.”
The four Easy Bean vegetarian dishes are: New Mexican Chilli, Moroccan Tagine, Indian Sambar Dhal and French Cuisinées. Easy Bean claims to have pioneered the one-pot hot meal category and has won six Gold Great Taste Awards. The company said it is proud all of its food is hand-prepared and slowly cooked in small batches, just like homemade.
The pots all include different beans. The New Mexican Chilli pots, which include red beans from a co-operative in Inner Mongolia have Fairtrade status. Moroccan Tagine has chickpeas, Indian Sambar features Toor Dhal and French Cuisinées has green lentils.
