Eight out of 10 retailers would consider a standalone shop-within-a-shop to drive footfall, new poll shows

Eight out of 10 retailers say they would consider a standalone shop-within-a-shop approach to drive footfall for their business, according to a poll carried out by Retail’s Best, the new concept in events that took place on 26 November at the Radisson Blu, London Stansted.

As convenience stores face growing pressure to evolve, fuelled by ramped-up expectations of consumers, those that fail to innovate are at risk of falling behind. Addressing this issue, Retail’s Best Convenience and Forecourt Partners, the second in this series of business networking events, brought together some big players in convenience retailing and motor fuel, and over 100 high-calibre convenience retailers and forecourt operators, to share ideas, drive innovation and grow business.

Partnering Retail’s Best for the first time was Bestway Wholesale, whose group director of symbol, James Hall, said:  “I believe that Retail’s Best offers us a great opportunity to grow the Best-one estate.”

Other partners included JET, who chose to bring its year of 60th anniversary celebrations to a close by supporting the event as the official motor fuel partner and MICROS, who came on board as the official EPOS partner for the second time.

Other official supporters included Tokheim, the Jordon Group, the Petrol Retailer’s Association (PRA) and 10 cherry-picked exhibitors for the smart exhibition, which attracted interest from Europe and America.

Retail’s Best is the brainchild of Moiz Vas, an independent convenience retailer and forecourt operator, who knows only too well the challenges faced in this fast-changing world of retail and petrol.

Vas said: “Retail’s Best is run by retailers, for retailers. We simply create the perfect environment, away from the distractions of work, to enable retailers and suppliers alike to spend quality time together to offer business inspiration and build new connections.”

Guests at last week’s event were invited to join informative break-out sessions hosted by the partners, followed by a drinks’ and canapé reception, a banquet dinner with entertainment and a smart exhibition. More events are planned for 2015.
