Neal Austin, Morrisons group logistics and supply chain director, has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of GS1 UK, the not-for-profit global supply chain standards organisation.
Bringing extensive retail experience to the role – from supply chain and logistics, to buying and store development – GS1 UK said Austin’s addition to the Supervisory Board underlines its commitment to work “outside in” with industry to deliver first class solutions that serve its members’ needs.
James Spittle, Chairman, GS1 UK, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Neal to the GS1 UK Supervisory Board. Being a user-driven and user-governed organisation, his industry knowledge and experience will be invaluable in helping us continue to deliver supply chain standards and consultancy services that make it faster, cheaper and safer for our members to serve their customers. We look forward to working with him in the months ahead.”
Alongside his fellow Supervisory Board members – all elected representatives of the GS1 UK membership – Austin will be responsible for helping to set the strategic direction of the organisation and ensuring it continues to operate for the benefit of its 26,000+ members.
Commenting on his appointment, Austin said: “Responsible for the flow of products from supplier to store at Morrisons, I witness the efficiencies that GS1 standards and solutions drive daily. I am delighted to be invited to sit on the Supervisory Board and I look forward to being part of the team that helps GS1 UK to achieve its goals for the benefit of the wider membership.”
