Dream is today announcing the launch of Coconut Dream, a refreshing dairy-free alternative to milk that is based on a mix of coconut and rice.
The new range is launching in Sainsbury’s and Asda stores across the UK, packed in 1-litre Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge cartons.
Enriched with calcium and vitamins D2 & B12, Coconut Dream is made from 100% natural ingredients, is naturally low in fat, has no added sugars, and is free from lactose, gluten and wheat. It is suitable for vegans and vegetarians, and gives consumers a great-tasting alternative or supplement to milk that is perfect poured over cereal, chilled in a glass or in cooking and baking.
It is packed in 1-litre Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge cartons, a next-generation pack from Tetra Pak, approved by the Swedish Rheumatism Association because it ensures easy use for everybody, including those with reduced hand strength. The carton features a sloping top panel with an easy-to-open, resalable screw cap and larger opening to allow smoother, more controlled pouring at an ergonomic angle for hands.
Coconut Dream is the third brand from Dream to be packed in this innovative format, after it moved its Oat Dream drink into the 1-litre pack, and its Rice Dream drinks range into the 1 litre pack earlier this year. The range of Dream drinks includes one oat-based drink and five rice-based drinks: calcium-enriched, organic, vanilla, chocolate, and hazelnut/almond flavour. It also offers Almond Dream and a newly launched Nut Dream.
Bart Dobbelaere, general manager Hain Europe, said: “Innovative dairy-free drinks and dairy alternatives are going from strength to strength across the globe, and we’re thrilled about the launch of Coconut Dream in the UK. We have seen an explosion in popularity of coconut based drinks, especially in the last year, and we are confident that UK customers will love the unique taste of Coconut Dream. As with our Rice Dream and Oat Dream range, we have chosen the Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge carton because it gives customers a comfortable, convenient drinking experience, while helping us to keep our environmental impact to a minimum.”
Andy Smith, portfolio manager at Tetra Pak UK & Ireland, said: “We have seen huge growth in the dairy-free milk alternative category recently, as customers look for new and exciting options to substitute or supplement dairy, for taste, heath or ethical reasons. With this in mind, it’s a really exciting time to be working with Dream who is recognised as a leader in this field. Our distinctive and diverse carton formats are perfect for opening up dairy-free beverages to a wider consumer base, while maintaining the unique personality of the Dream brand.”
The Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge carton is designed to bring advanced environmental performance, as well as great functionality for the consumer. The sloping top panel is angled to make the pack easily stackable and space efficient in distribution and storage, cutting costs and emissions in the supply chain. Like all Tetra Pak cartons, it is made primarily from a renewable resource – paperboard, sourced from responsibly-managed forests – and is widely recyclable across the UK after use.
