The Happy World of Haribo sweetens London Designer Outlet

London Designer Outlet (LDO), the capital’s leading fashion & lifestyle outlet, celebrated 17 consecutive quarters of sales growth with a competition to win 17kg of HARIBO sweets.

Nick Symons with Sue Shepherd, Realm’s centre manager at LDO

In December 2017, HARIBO, the world’s leading manufacturer of fruit gums and liquorice products, opened its first outlet store in the UK at LDO in Wembley Park. The store has proven to be extremely popular with visitors of all ages, contributing to the scheme’s impressive trading stats.

Nick Symons, a founding partner at specialist retail property consultancy MMX Retail, won the sweets. The equivalent weight of a female Cape baboon, over 6,000 table tennis balls or over 13,000 balloons, the sweets filled the large suitcase in which they were presented to Nick by Sue Shepherd, Realm’s Centre Manager at LDO.

Symons said: “I’m delighted to have won. I may share a few bags with the team in the MMX Retail Office and my kids, but we will be donating the large majority Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) where the son of one of our colleagues is currently being treated. We’ve taken this opportunity to spread HARIBO’s famed ‘happy-world’ experience to children currently undergoing treatment at GOSH, but also the amazing staff.”

LDO is managed by Realm, the UK’s largest specialist outlet operator, and is owned by Quintain, the London developer transforming Wembley Park into the capital’s most exciting mixed-use regeneration project.

LDO welcomes 7 million guests a year and its proven record of success includes Europe’s top Guess outlet store, one of Nike’s top three outlet stores in Europe, the UK’s best performing Gap Outlet, and fastest-growing M&S Outlet.
