Joseph Heler Cheese, the UK’s largest regional cheese producer, has teamed up with Geeta’s, the premium Indian chutney brand in the UK, to create a Red Leicester Blended With Authentic Indian Chutney, which it claims is set to take the industry by storm.
It is being launched onto Tesco deli counters throughout the UK from 15 October 2012.
Pitched as a premium co-branded product, the flavours in Geeta’s Premium Mango Chutney naturally combine with Heler’s mellow Red Leicester cheese to create a perfectly balanced sweet/savoury flavour, making it a true taste sensation, the company said.
The product labelling features traditional Indian colours and decoration to give the product eye-catching authenticity, it added.
Angela Pasco, national account controller of Joseph Heler Cheese, said: “Like Heler’s, Geeta’s are a family run company and their name is synonymous with quality and authenticity so were the obvious choice when we were looking for a partner in this exciting new venture. The result has gone above and beyond what we could ever have hoped, with the key element being the incredible taste that we have managed to create.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Geeta’s on this project and the support that we have received from Tesco to bring the product to market has been invaluable.”
One of the key discoveries in the development of the product is its extensive versatility, the company claims.
Joanna Turner, deli cheese buyer for Tesco, said: “Innovation is key in everything that we do at Tesco, constantly striving to bring our customers quality products. The taste, good quality and originality of Heler’s Red Leicester Blended with Authentic Indian Chutney is revolutionary. We are very much looking forward to seeing the customer response.”
Managing director of Geeta’s Foods, Anita Samtani, said: “Much like Helers, our mission is to create the best tasting, highest quality products, using only natural ingredients. Joseph Heler discovered a clear gap in the marketplace for a sweet and savoury mix and we were more than thrilled when they decided to approach us to work on this Red Leicester and mango chutney blend, leading to an area that we may never have ventured into.”
