Glasgow-based wholesaler JW Filshill is strengthening its buying team with the appointment of Edward Bentley to handle the key impulse category (soft drinks, crisps and snacks).

Bentley, who will be based in Glasgow and report to category manager Derek Cowan, joins the award-winning company from the respected SHS Sales & Marketing business where he worked for nearly 10 years and was latterly national account manager with responsibility for Scotland.

Chris Miller, group commercial director at JW Filshill, said: “I’m delighted that Edward is joining the Filshill family at a time when our business is growing across Scotland and the north of England.

“He comes to us with significant knowledge of Filshill having dealt with us as a customer of SHS plus an impressive track record of working with high-profile FMCG brands. Edward is an experienced operator who understands the importance of working in partnership with suppliers for mutual benefit and will be an asset to the Filshill team.”

Bentley, who is a member of the Kilmarnock Piranhas Ice Hockey Club and has an interest in sleight of hand magic, said: “This is an exciting time to be joining such a forward-thinking business and I relish the challenge of building on the strong foundations already in place as well as forging new relationships with suppliers.”

Currently supplying over 185 independent KeyStore outlets across Scotland and the north of England, Filshill is a leading member of the new Unitas Wholesale group.
