The new London Designer Outlet at Wembley Park has attracted over 200,000 shoppers since it opened 10 days ago.
The centre recently hosted the inaugural Sitare Festival – a colourful, vibrant, exciting day out celebrating the best of creativity and talent in London. The event, which will become an annual fixture in the Wembley calendar, has been commissioned by the team behind London Designer Outlet to celebrate its launch with the local community.
Sitare Festival was been created by Ali Pretty, Kinetika the artist behind outdoor performances for FIFA and London’s Paralympics 2012, among other high profile celebrations. The festival included celebrated outdoor performing arts company, NutKhut, recreating three stunning dance extracts of Bollywood Steps – a unique, large-scale British Bollywood outdoor dance spectacle, originally commissioned by the Mayor of London. Sony TV Asia will host a live music stage and BBC Asian Network will be playing music throughout the afternoon.
The carnival route started from King Edward VII Park, travelled along Wembley Park Drive, down Olympic Way to London Designer Outlet. Once there, shoppers were able to enjoy store promotions and special offers as well as extensive leisure facilities. More than just shopping, the 350,000sq ft outlet will also offer a new nine-screen Cineworld with a wide range of restaurants such as wagamama, Pizza Express, Nando’s and Cabana – blending family favourites with international flavours to reflect London’s cosmopolitan culture, and additional food and drink stalls located around Wembley Park for when you are feeling peckish.
London Designer Outlet looks set to become a magnet for astute bargain hunters with 70 retail outlets offering discounts of up to 70% on current season lines. Retailers confirmed include LK Bennett, Superdry, Guess, Nike, Gap, Clarks and Marks & Spencer.
London Designer Outlet is part of Wembley Park the major development around Wembley Stadium that will combine outstanding entertainment, shopping, leisure, new homes and public spaces, creating a new destination for London.
James Saunders, chief operating officer of developer, Quintain, said: “To mark the opening of London Designer Outlet, we wanted to create an event at Wembley Park that had the needs and wants of the local community at its heart. We hope the annual event will enable local people to showcase their talent, skills and passion for their community across both Wembley and the wider London area.”
