Convenience retailer McColl’s is pleased to announce it has appointed Richard Crampton to the newly created position of chief commercial officer following an extensive search process, and he will join the company in autumn 2019.

Crampton is currently managing director of the Buying Group at the Co-op, a role which he has held since 2015, representing the eight largest Co-ops’ joint interests in grocery retail buying. Prior to this, Richard spent over 7 years at Sainsbury’s where he undertook a number of commercial roles.

Jonathan Miller, chief executive, McColl’s, said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard to McColl’s. His background with the multiple grocers and his extensive experience in convenience and food retail will be a tremendous benefit to our business as we further strengthen our neighbourhood convenience offer.”

Crampton said: “I am delighted to be joining McColl’s, and I look forward to working with Jonathan and the wider team to capitalise on the many opportunities available to the company in the convenience market.”
