Morrisons to stock full range of Bar-Be-Quick BBQ products

Bar-Be-Quick, the pioneer of the instant barbecue, has partnered with supermarket chain Morrisons this summer to promote its full range of FSC-certified charcoal and accessories.

In total, Morrisons will stock 16 branded product lines during the barbeque season, including the best-selling Bar-Be-Quick Instant Barbecue, Party Barbecue, Briquettes, Lumpwood and Instant Lighting Charcoal. This will all be displayed alongside key sellers such as Firelighters and Matches, merchandised both on shelf and in a distinctive floor standing unit.

The partnership will also include a special edition of Bar-Be-Quick’s Instant Barbecue which will be sold from within the floor standing unit (RRP £3) after the company launched an exclusive summer on-pack promotion with leading soy sauce brand, Kikkoman, featuring its teriyaki marinades and sauces.

The Instant BBQ will carry a 50p coupon off Kikkoman’s Teriyaki Marinade, Teriyaki Sauce with Toasted Sesame, and Teriyaki Sauce with Roasted Garlic.  

Caroline Morris, head of sales at Bar-Be-Quick, said: “We’re delighted to have teamed up with Morrisons ahead of this year’s barbeque season. On the back of the hot weather in 2018 – and the continued weather spikes we’re experiencing in this country – we’re seeing an increased demand for UK manufactured and stored stock, as retailers look to react swiftly to changing forecasts.

“We pride ourselves on our ability to respond quickly to stock requests with short lead times, while also ensuring quality remains at the forefront of everything we do.”

Last year, supermarkets experienced significant sales spikes in barbeque-related products, starting as early as April, after the UK experienced a number of unseasonal mini heatwaves.

A spokesperson at Morrisons commented: “Good weather, and the summer season, bring a natural sales uplift in a number of categories relevant to barbeques. As such, it’s essential that we’re ready to implement cross-merchandising strategies and install temporary free-standing display units across the store to encourage impulse purchases.

“We’re confident that our partnership with Bar-Be-Quick will help meet that demand to ensure we can capitalise on the unpredictable British weather!”
