Mothercare invests in future with external evaluation of the board


Leading search and talent consultancy, Wickland Westcott, has worked with Mothercare to carry out an evaluation of its board, as part of the retailer’s strategy to take the business forward.

Alan Parker was appointed chairman of Mothercare in August 2011. Soon after his appointment, he was challenged with developing and implementing a business plan which would see the company significantly improve its performance in the UK in the current market conditions.

Recognising performance in the boardroom is central to business success, Parker brought in Wickland Westcott to conduct an external evaluation of the company’s board, tasking the consultancy with making recommendations that would enhance the effectiveness of the Board and the business.

As a specialist in board evaluations, Wickland Westcott said it designed and delivered a bespoke approach that focused as much on the human dynamics of the Mothercare board as it did on process, structure and governance.
