Natural Balance Foods reports its Nākd snack bar brand has grown by £7.5m and is now worth £16.2m, almost doubling in a year – growing ahead of competitors and the category. With 17% of this growth coming from the convenience and forecourt sectors, Nākd is announcing new listings, which it claims will bolster the brand’s position within the channel and offer more consumers the chance to make the switch.

Nākd’s hero flavours, Cocoa Orange & Cocoa Delight launch, have won their first listings within the Spar estate. Further strengthening the must stock flavours, which already have a combined UK sales value of £6.3m, 40% of all Nākd sales – the listing is testament to consumer love for chocolate and alternatives that taste just as great, the company claims.

The Cocoa Orange and Cashew Cookie products will also be available in BP forecourts as part of a new listing from October 2014 – increasing the reach of the already popular brand to new consumers who want healthy options without compromising on taste.

In addition to new retailers selling the bars, Nākd has also built upon successful accounts by increasing the range offering. Martin McColl’s Retail Group, which already lists Cocoa Orange and Berry delight flavours, is now introducing three new flavours; Cashew Cookie, Cocoa Delight & Strawberry Crunch to meet demand for healthy options within the group. Nisa Retail is also listing the Crunch singles range in addition to the Core range, with Strawberry & Banana Crunch being available from October 2014.

Nākd said it expects to further increase growth of £1.07m on singles for the last 52 weeks within the convenience channel.

Off the back of Nākd’s recent high-profile marketing campaign, these listings are set to further cement the company’s position within this channel and address consumer demand for free-from products that can be enjoyed as a part of a healthy lifestyle choice.

Marina Love, marketing director of Natural Balance Foods, said: “These are exciting wins for Nākd, which will not only please our existing fans, but also give us the opportunity to reach out to new customers that haven’t tried the range before.

“With 52% of adults now purchasing free from products, only 20% cite intolerance as a motive for purchase with the majority recognising their nutritional benefits and looking for healthier options to enjoy as part of a balanced diet. Our Nākd bars not only tick the healthy box but taste great too so we’re confident they will be well received by consumers.”

Available in individual 35g bars, the Natural Balance Foods Nākd Bar range includes 10 mouth-watering flavours, from Cocoa Orange, to Rhubarb & Custard along with Nākd Protein Bars available in four variants including Strawberry Crunch and Cocoa Crunch.
