Stocks, a luxury clothing and homeware store, has opened its doors in Marlow. The independent retailer, which has its flagship store in Henley, also has a shop in Stockbridge, Hampshire.
Sandie Harrow, who founded the brand with her daughter in law, Lise, said: “We have been eager to get into Marlow for a while now and when this opportunity came up we just had to take it. Spittal Street is a brilliant location for us and we are looking forward to having a store in this lovely market town”
Stocks have taken a lease at Shop 7, Anglers Court, and are hoping to replicate its winning formula from the other stores; selling a versatile range of independent brands, a wide range of cashmere, ladies’ clothes, giftware and cards. Specialising in cashmere, the shop offers a selection of tops, skirts and dresses. Tapping into her Danish roots, Lise has also introduced several Skandi labels to the store.
Sandie went on to say: “Our stores place a real emphasis on sustainability. Within our range are hand finished note cards, recycled from waxed coffee cups. Our shopping bags and storage boxes are made from recycled plastic bottles by a Dutch company based in China who help support their local community, giving them employment and a steady income. We also source pashminas from the first manufacturer of pashminas in Nepal using an English based supplier who sends funds to help rebuild communities there, especially vital after the recent earthquakes in the country.
“We are very passionate about small independent stores returning to the High Street and it is great to see the support that Sorbon Estates provide for these retailers and their commitment to maintain an interesting tenant mix in Marlow.”
Chris Naylor, director of asset management at Sorbon Estates, said: “Stocks is a welcome addition to Marlow’s vibrant and distinct town centre and we are confident the store will enhance and complement the current offering. We have taken our time to find the missing piece of the jigsaw in the high-quality tenant line-up at Anglers Court and we are thrilled to have Stocks to complete it. The store is incredibly conscientious with the brands and companies it buys from and it is great to see the support of small independent designers within their store.”
