Northern Monk Brew Co reveals first can range and plans to increase capacity with second warehouse

Northern Monk Brew Co is pleased to reveal its core  range of beer in can form.  Launching on 4 September 2015, the first three cans are available online through their store and in your local quality beer shop.

Northern Monk Brew Co’s journey began in 2008 but really came to fruition once it found its permanent home in Leeds’ industrial heritage site of Holbeck, late last year. Northern Monk Refectory and Tap Room opened in October 2014 and have received huge praise across national and local media. Now growing to include a second site with a cold store warehouse, Northern Monk produces over 10,000 pints a week at present with plans to produce over 15,000 in the near future. The beer is enjoyed across the UK and Europe and the building plays host to a variety of events including their inaugural City Of Industry in August, which was a collaborative music, art and food showcase.

The next step for growth of Northern Monk Brew Co. was to launch its core range of beer in cans. Today is an important part in the company’s history and uses the latest technology of canning and one of the first UK breweries to receive an in house Wild Goose Canning Line. Canning is an important step forwards in beer packaging, providing a more environmentally friendly, fresher and more lightweight way to get their beer to the consumer. The company also received help earlier in the year through the Business Growth Programme.

Collaborations and community were always at the heart of what they do, Northern Monk Patrons was set up to highlight talent across a broad spectrum of skills including artists, graphic designers, video makers and musicians to join together and create new projects. The video launching Northern Monk Brew Co Cans was made as a Patron’s project and produced via Jack King. The video was shot across the Leeds City Region.

The canning line will also open doors for us internationally and help us build on the trade we now do across Europe, we’re in talks with distributors in the U.S. as well as other destinations further afield and look forward to taking the beer we produce in the centre of Leeds across the world. Closer to home it’s been great to work with independents across the region and we look forward to further opportunities to support and collaborate with other up and coming businesses in the City.”
