Nuba: new chairman

Manchester-based Nuba Cocktails has appointed Jules Hydleman, the former chairman of smoothie company, Innocent, to be its own chairman.

The appointment follows news Nuba Cocktails has been named winner of Best In-flight Food or Beverage Product 2011 at the annual Airline Retail Conference (ARC) gala dinner.

Since launching in March 2011, Nuba Cocktails has secured listings across the UK, including London Zoo, Manchester-based Lowry and Midland Hotels and award-winning Devon-favourite, The Thatch; alongside numerous bars, clubs, pubs, restaurants and venues in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Merseyside, Staffordshire, London, and Somerset.

Hydleman said: “Nuba Cocktails is just the sort of exciting new business that can really take the market by storm. A very simple proposition of great tasting cocktails, individually bottled, creating a fantastic opportunity for busy bars and other establishments to offer a great alternative to the more usual product offering.

“I’m really looking forward to working with such a dynamic business and particularly with a fantastic and energetic management team.”

Nuba managing director Victoria Novis said: “Today’s announcement is a huge step forward for Nuba and we are thrilled to have Jules on board.  As consumer tastes and lifestyles change, the ready-to-drink market is growing quickly.

“We saw a gap in the market for a premium yet affordable brand using only high quality ingredients and we have worked hard to create a platform for growth. The appointment of Jules will help us achieve scale for our niche product.”

Nuba Cocktails are available in three flavours – Cosmopolitan, Mojito and Mai Tai. They are 100% natural, made using only premium spirits and fruit juices and are based on traditional recipes ensuring they have the same depth and complexity of flavour as freshly made versions, said the company.

Nuba Cocktails are manufactured and bottled in Britain.
