One Stop Stores is celebrating the opening of its 200th Post Office, following the launch of its latest franchise store in north east England.
One Stop already has 180 Post Offices within its company-owned estate and Saturday 28 February marked the official opening of its 20th Post Office within the fully refitted franchise estate.
The store in Witherwack, Sunderland, is owned by Nirmal Mann, who has operated from the site on Woolwich Close for the last 10 years. Previously an unaffiliated independent, the move to One Stop has seen the store refitted to One Stop’s modern design, including a major extension which expands the sales area from 1,100sq ft to 1,900sq ft. As part of the transformation, the store has also moved from a fortress Post Office to the new Local format, providing its customers with the added convenience of longer opening hours. In addition the new look store will still provide its popular range of existing services which include a free to use ATM and Lottery.
Andrew King, One Stop Franchise director, said: “We’re delighted to hit such an important milestone within one of our franchise stores.
We have a great working relationship with the Post Office and they are supportive of what we’re trying to achieve with our franchise model. Nirmal can be rightly proud of her new look store and it’s obvious from the launch day that the local community fully appreciate the convenience and value on offer.”
Neil Ennis, network transformation programme director, said: “The Post Office and One Stop have worked closely together over the last few years opening new modernised Post Offices with long hours and great customer service. I am delighted that jointly we have reached this milestone of 200 modernised Post Offices with our partner One Stop.”
