Award winning Pâté

Patchwork Pâté, the British producer of handmade foods from the Welsh countryside, has won the Best Welsh Speciality Golden Fork award in the Great Taste Awards 2014.

Comprising eight regional awards covering the UK and Ireland and a further 11 for specialist categories, the Golden Forks are open to a wide range of businesses.

Patchwork Pâté won its award, sponsored by Food and Drink Wales, for its Red Pesto Pâté, which also won three gold stars at the awards.

The company’s Spelt Oat Finger products, which include seaweed and honey options, were each awarded one gold star.

Margaret Carter, founder and CEO of Patchwork Pâté, said: “Winning the Best Welsh Speciality Golden Fork fills everyone at Patchwork Pâté with enormous pride. So much incredible food and drink is produced in Wales, so to have our Red Pesto Pâté chosen by The Guild of Fine Food is a wonderful achievement. We love using locally sourced produce and ingredients in all our products to give them that special homemade taste and texture.”

The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are regarded as the Oscars of the food world. Containing locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, Patchwork Red Pesto Pâté is recognised for its great quality and taste. Only 153 products out of 10,000 have won three gold stars this year.

Some 405 judges, including 38 specially trained food writers, judge the Great Taste Awards over 50 judging days from April to late July.

Patchwork Pâté has won over 80 awards for its products and enlightened business ethos since its inception in 1982, including the Silver Award in the True Taste Awards in 2010 and a one star Gold Award in the Great Taste Awards 2013.

Patchwork Pâté products are free from artificial additives, stabilisers, preservatives or hydrogenated fats and contain only the highest quality ingredients. The company hand makes its products on a scale small enough to ensure textures and flavours are authentic, yet large enough to meet growing demand.

Other Patchwork Pâté products include hummus, chocolate terrines, chutneys and soups. The company also sells Spelt Blinis and Ice Cream for Grownups – handmade with cream, milk, raw cane sugar and egg yolks.

Patchwork Pâté products are stocked by selected independent retailers across the United Kingdom. All products are also available online at www.patchwork-pate.co.uk.

The company also has a YouTube channel, Pinterest and Instagram offering recipes and tips for enjoying its products to the full.
