Plusfood – a member of the BRF group, one of the world’s top 10 food companies and the world’s largest poultry business – has launched a range of frozen chicken snacks called Chixxs and won a listing in Tesco stores.
Plusfood reports Chixxs has also launched across Germany and is the focus of a pan European roll out.
Inspired by flavours from around the world and created without artificial colourings or preservatives and only natural flavours, the Chixxs range includes three flavours: Indian, American and Italian.
According to the company, the range cooks from frozen in minutes.
Vera Malhotra, UK marketing manager, Plusfood UK, said: “Plusfood place a great deal of importance on the continual development of our snacking and convenience products, and Chixxs – which is completely new to the market – delivers a sophisticated range of products that are quick and easy to cook for a variety of different occasions.
“Plusfood believes Chixxs will be an extremely popular snacking solution for customers looking for impromptu dining, classy snacking with drinks as well as stylish party food. Chixxs will join our Perfect For Eating In brand to consolidate Plusfood’s growing presence in the UK market and the importance of BRF on a global stage.”
Chixxs Indian Masala Chicken Goujons (270g) are made from 100% chicken breast fillet, wrapped in a crunchy coating infused with coriander, cumin, cardamom, garlic and chilli.
Chixxs American Hot Chilli Wings (480g) have a paprika and black pepper seasoned coating for a fiery kick
Chixxs Pesto Chicken Bites (280g) are made from 100% chicken breast fillet, in a crunchy coating flavoured with basil, oregano, Parmesan, black pepper, garlic and paprika.
The potential for the new brand has been quickly recognised by Tesco, said Plusfood.
Paul Blake, UK retail manager, Plusfood UK, said: “We are delighted Tesco has come on board as the first UK multiple to list this new brand nationwide. Chixxs will carry a trial price of £2.00 for the three-week launch period, with the recommended RRP being £2.49. We are confident this innovation in the frozen category will add value and attract new consumers.”
