Leading Italian pesto and pasta sauce company Sacla’ is launching two new reduced fat pesto variants.

Available from June, Reduced fat Sacla’ Basil Pesto and Reduced fat Sacla’ Sundried Tomato Pesto are made to authentic pesto recipes but with 30% less oil than both original Sacla’ Classic Basil Pesto and Sacla’ Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto.

The two new variants also have salt content in line with 2017 FSA targets. Reduced fat pesto currently available as part of retailer brand ranges in selected retailers is worth £1.9 million (13% of total private label pesto sales) and growing by 29.3% year on year.

Developed and made in Italy, the two new versatile pesto variants have the same great taste as the classic Sacla’ range and can be enjoyed with meat, for topping fish, in soups, marinades, on pizza and as a dressing. Clare Blampied, managing director of Sacla’ , said: “At a time of rising popularity for healthier diets and healthier product versions in many categories, we are adding to our portfolio of pesto sauces to ensure we can offer consumers choice – there’s a pesto for everyone.”

The two new variants will be supported by a press and digital campaign. Available from mid June in Morrisons, Co-op and Ocado priced £2.49 for a 190g jar.
