137 M&S stores up and down the country sold out completely of the our rebranded Roast Chicken Sandwich on 17 May, with sales of the new-Royally inspired sarnie up almost 50% on the same day last year and up 20% on the same day last week!

Helen Brennan, sandwich product developer for M&S, said: “The news that Harry got down on one knee to pop the question over a roast chicken captured the hearts of the nation and inspired the M&S sandwich team to create a limited edition rebrand of one of the nations’ s favourite sarnies.”

Londoners and Glaswegians are the most royal and romantic customers, the top M&S stores for The Proposal sales were:

  • St Thomas Hospital, Lambeth, +190% on last year
  • Glasgow South Hospital, +150% on last year
  • Canary Wharf, +100% on last year
  • Finsbury Pavement, Moorgate +18% on last year

To top off a week of Royal Celebrations, M&S is also offering all 2,000 public wedding guests free The Proposal sandwich meal deals. Those lucky enough to have an invitation will be able to pick up a free meal deal from their local M&S on Friday 18 May.
