Simons Group has completed work on the Debenhams store in Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port which opens to the public today (21 August 2014).
Simons has been engaged for over 10 months, starting with Simons Design, who took the retailer‘s brief and transformed the store with a new flagship fit out. Simons‘ fit out team delivered the new format in 28 weeks, which included further structural alterations, along with new lifts and escalator installations. The works also featured the creation of a bespoke façade treatment and a specially disigned cladding system.
A spokesman for Simons said: “Our team have thoroughly enjoyed being involved in delivering such a key store format for Debenhams. It has been a challenging and interesting project for the fit out team, as it was so much more than that. The technical aspects of the façade system were a great challenge for us, one that we succeeded with, taking the customer’s concept, mirroring the visual and creating a workable design and reality.”
The new store, being opened by local hero and Chester Zoo’s head vet Steve Unwin, will boast beauty brands including Clarins, Benefit, Lancome, Urban Decay and Estée Launder, along with clothing collections from deigners Julien Macdonald, John Rocha, Ben de Lisi, Patrick Grant and Jasper Conran.
Simons has a long history of delivering projects around the country for Debenhams, including the first phase of the major fit out at the Oxford Street store. More recently Simons has been working with the retailer on a developments project in North Lincolnshire, delivering the shell for Debenhams at North Lincolnshire Shopping Park, which will open to the public later in the year.
