Spar and HMV to install beacon technology with bigDL

Since pilots began mid-2014, bigDLreports it has attracted suppliers, retailers and charities with its proprietary software platform which creates a new channel to reach consumers by harnessing innovative beacon technology, mobile couponing capability and rewards.

Now bigDL is announcing a new raft of partners with the likes of HMV and Spar starting trials in store. bigDL, which works as both a website and an application, gives consumers a bird’s eye view of the high street; showcasing retailer’s new products, the latest deals and “what’s hot”. The experience is geared around a consumer’s location and interests and allows them to buy online as well as get directions to the nearest store.

In addition to the HMV and Spar trials, Premier, NISA, and Simply Fresh have installed the bigDL technology in-store and signed up to the marketing platform. Numerous other brands such as Londis, INTERSPORT and Heron Foods have already signed up to the end-to-end marketing platform running campaigns that attract consumers both in-store and online.

The content platform, bigDL, allows brands to enhance communication direct to consumers, helping them save time and money. The app allows users to personalise their shopping experience by choosing which sectors they wish to be alerted about, meaning only relevant offers appear on their newsfeed. In-store beacons then alert app users with appropriate offerings when they are in range.

High-street convenience store, NISA this month reported a 15% coupon redemption rate, with consumers actively engaging with the deals.

Rav Garcha, a Business advisor and solutions provider for NISA and Simply Fresh, said: “bigDL presented us with a cost-effective and accessible way of implementing new and innovative beacon technology, while enabling it put our marketing directly into the hands of consumers.

“The platform has allowed us to reinvigorate our customer experience and we are seeing the benefits already. bigDL connects our customers to our brand and brand partners, making shopping easier and more convenient for them.”

Matt Norbury, CEO at bigDL, said: “A broad spectrum of retailers have now partnered with us, allowing bigDL to offer an even more diverse range of deals for consumers. Following successful trials our platform will enable the likes of HMV and Spar the opportunity to reach and communicate with a digitally-aware customer base, by giving them a new channel through which they can access the latest news, offers and promotions from the retailer.”

“We are confident that the partnerships with bigDL will make a positive contribution to helping brands engage with a new generation.”
