CJ Lang: set to expand store portfolio in ScotlandDundee-based Spar distributor and retailer CJ Lang is in negotiations with AM Landsburgh (St Andrews) to acquire its 10 Spar convenience food stores, which are located in Dundee and Fife.

Spar distributor and retailer CJ Lang is in negotiations with AM Landsburgh (St Andrews) to acquire its 10 Spar convenience food stores in Dundee and Fife.

According to Spar, both parties are working towards concluding a deal by the end of April 2011. CJ Lang’s estate of wholly-owned Spar stores would increase to 105 following the purchase.

CJ Lang owns the Spar Scotland franchise and is the largest symbol group in Scotland. It is also Scotland’s largest independent wholesaler, supplying goods and services to over 380 stores; of which 95 are wholly owned and operated by the company. The company employs 2,000 staff, with over 400 employed at its head office and distribution centre in Dundee.

AM Landsburgh (St Andrews) is a third generation family run business, founded in 1950, and head quartered in Dundee.
