Spar UK’s wine range has been recognised by the international wine trade, winning 119 awards overall, with a total of 70 for its own brand range, including 13 for its new Exclusives range.
Spar’s new Exclusives range launched last month and its Terra Ricca and Perlezza Prosecco wines scooped silver accolades in The International Wine Challenge awards. The results were announced at the London International Wine Fair held at Excel on 20-22 May 2013.
The contemporary collection of new wines, exclusive to Spar, consists of four separate ranges blending Old World tradition, New World innovation and a contemporary design. Originating from Italy and Spain, the Exclusives range is described as a series of competitively priced, easy drinking, modern classics.
A number of Spar’s other branded wines also picked up awards. The Spar Californian range won five bronze accolades in the International Wine and Spirit Competition awards and the Spar Chablis collected a silver award in The International Wine Challenge awards.
Chris Lewis, Spar UK licensed trading director, said: “We’ve worked hard to make sure our retailers can offer the best modern and classic wines to shoppers with the Spar range. We strive to deliver quality, variety and taste at great value.
“We want our retailers to offer shoppers the chance to explore the world of wine available on their doorstep. These latest awards highlight what’s on offer at Spar stores and we’re delighted to see our own brand and Exclusives range receive this kind of recognition.
“We’re looking forward to helping our retailers boost their wine offering even further in future, helping customers to find exceptional wines at affordable prices.”
