The rumours are true, Subway is introducing its first ever Vegan Sub and Salad, which will be available in stores nationwide from the 17 April.

The launch follows a series of successful product trials carried out in stores in Wigan, High Wycombe and Manchester Piccadilly and high demand from Subway customers on the brand’s social media channels.

The Vegan Sub and Salad features a patty packed with tasty sweet red pepper, chilli, garlic and red onion. Subway is also introducing a new Vegan Garlic Aioli that can be added to any Sub or Salad, so customers can make their favourite meal what they want.

With a record over 250,000 people taking part in Veganuary in 2019 and 7% of the nation (3 million people) intending to stop eating animal products in the next 12 months, demand for vegan products is at an all-time high*. Customers may be surprised at how much of the Subway menu is already suitable for vegans – options include the Hash Browns, launched in September 2018; Seven of Subway’s best-selling sauces; all of the delicious, crunchy salads, and also the Italian and Hearty Italian breads. At Subway customers can make it what they want, when they want.

Alongside the new Vegan range, Subway is also launching its new Ultimate Cheesy Garlic Bread. Suitable for vegetarians and made with a deliciously melty Mozzarella and Red Cheddar cheese and a roasted garlic and parsley butter.

Ultimate Cheesy Garlic Bread will be promoted on two of our best-selling Subs – Italian B.M.T® and Meatball Marinara, but customers will be able to add it to any 6 inch Sub of their choice for £1. Available in stores from Wednesday 17th April.

Colin Hughes, country director for Subway UK & Ireland, said: “The new Vegan Sub and Salad and Ultimate Cheesy Garlic Bread is an exciting next step in what we’re able to offer on our menu. We’re always looking to introduce new, balanced choices so as to continue to cater for everyone, whether that’s offering more choice for ‘meat-free Mondays’ or for those following a flexitarian diet.”

The launch of the new Vegan Sub and Salad will be supported by an integrated marketing campaign across PR, social media and advertising. The above the line activations will run across outdoor, press, radio and digital, including a partnership with the Daily Mail Group and the Kiss FM network, from 22n April throughout May.
