2degrees, a leading community for sustainable business, is calling for inspiring examples of sustainable business practice to enter its annual 2degrees Champions Awards, as its deadline of 14 February 2014 draws closer.

Voted by industry peers, the 2degrees Champions Awards are the ultimate recognition for individuals and companies driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of sustainable business.

Last year 12 businesses were awarded a Champions Award accolade, including Marks & Spencer, The Co-operative Group, Telefonica O2 UK, BskyB and Pukka Herbs.

There are 14 categories including Building or Property Project, Innovation of the Year, External Communications Campaign, Supply Chain Management, and Sustainability Champion of the Year.

2degrees Member of the Year and Personality of the Year, won by David Attenborough in 2013, will be chosen by the 2degrees judging panel.

As well as entering one of 14 award categories, the 2degrees Champions Awards is attended by over 250 sustainable business leaders and their teams, and is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and celebrate with the companies right at the forefront of sustainable business.

Lorrain Amos, from Unilever UK and Ireland, said of last year’s event: “The awards gave us an opportunity to network with others who are passionate about sustainability and will hopefully build successful collaborations for the future.”

“As well as rewarding individuals and companies building their sustainable credentials, the Champions Awards are an enjoyable way to create new relationships, re-kindle existing relationships, inspire and motivate staff and engage stakeholders. For example, last year, Telefonica O2 UK brought their commercial teams to the awards, as a way of highlighting internally the fantastic work the sustainability team are doing,” said Martin Chilcott, CEO, 2degrees.

“Through the 2degrees network I’m always hearing about the innovative solutions and ideas businesses are creating, so I’m looking forward to having them all in one room and seeing them receive the recognition they deserve.”

The closing date for entries is Friday 14 February. It is free to submit an entry to the awards and you must be a 2degrees member, membership is also free. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Wembley Stadium in July 2014.  For more information and to enter the 2degrees Champions Awards please visit: https://www.2degreesnetwork.com/awards/’
