As part of an ongoing £30 million redevelopment plan, Northern Ireland’s largest retail and leisure park, The Junction in Antrim, is delighted to announce the addition of global sportwear brand, Intersport, to its growing list of retailers. Opening in October and measuring 5,600sq ft the store will offer a wide selection of sporting brands including Adidas, Under Armour, Puma, Canterbury, ProTouch, Energetics, New Balance and Speedo to name but a few.
Intersport is the world’s largest sports retailer and innovator in sportswear with over 5500 stores, 220 of which are in the UK. The brand’s goal is to provide sporting goods for everyone from beginners to athletes and focuses on promoting the benefits of sport to all ages. Despite having a large global presence, the brand is known for its focus on the community with each store being owned by local business people who understand the community’s needs making it a unique shopping experience.
The Junction is a haven for shoppers and families in Northern Ireland with a large portfolio of retailers, a range of places to eat and drink and a 10-screen Omniplex cinema. This new store opening is part of The Junction’s multi-million-pound redevelopment, which began in April with the construction of a new McDonald’s Drive Thru restaurant and recent opening of the Beauty Outlet. The park has recently been named the first dementia-friendly centre in Northern Ireland due to its work with the Alzheimer’s Society to provide support with shoppers who live with the condition.
Lotus Property managing director, Alastair Coulson commented: “We are delighted to welcome the Intersport team to The Junction; its arrival is a big win for us and complements our portfolio. The addition of this strong brand is testament to the confidence the industry has in The Junction and will continue our ever-growing success.”
Neil Venables, general manager of Intersport UK said: “This latest store opening at The Junction is an exciting moment for Intersport. The Intersport mission is to inspire and connect with the everyday athlete through sport and we can’t wait to work with the team at The Junction to spread this message.”
