Top of the shops is a Retail Times report for weekly health & beauty online sales (by volume) published in conjunction with mySupermarket.
Asda: Just four Asda brands are in the retailer’s top 20 online health and beauty basket this week, compared with eight last time; and 50% are under the Smartprice banner. Haircare brand Tresemme is popular with Asda shoppers this week, appearing four times in total. Karvol Vapour Rub with Menthol takes a top 20 slot this week, suggesting cold remedies are becoming more popular as cooler autumnal weather arrives.
Boots: Five Boots’ own labels make it into the top 20 online basket this week, compared to one last time. They include the retailer’s No 7 brand, with Brightening Day Cream Spf 30 capturing the top spot. The basket has a fruity feel this week with Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Cream Wash (150ml) and Boots Luxury Mulberry Passion Handwash (250ml) included in shoppers’ online baskets.
Ocado: Baby care products account for almost half (nine) of Ocado’s online health and beauty basket this week. As is the case in retailer’s grocery basket, price fluctuations are more marked than its supermarket rivals with several lines half price versus a week ago. Huggies Pull-Ups for Boys Extra Large 16-23kg (12), for example, are reduced to £2.74 from £5.48 last week and win a top 20 positioning.
Sainsbury’s: Four Sainsbury’s brands are in this week’s basket, up from two last time; including two Basics products. Radox Shower Gel Brazilian Fusion (250ml) and Radox for Men 2in1 Shower Therapy – Shower Gel & Shampoo (250ml) are both half price compared with a week ago and help win the brand two out of its three listings in the top 20
Superdrug: Superdrug’s online health and beauty basket is largely composed of cleansers and creams this week plus some cosmetic lines including a Sleek MakeUP Eyebrow Pen – Brown and MeMeMe Light Me Up Lip Gloss – Illuminate. Vosene Kids 3in1 Conditioning Shampoo with Head Lice Repellent (250ml) also features makes an appearance as a popular treatment now the kids are back at school.
Tesco: Tesco’s own label has increased its presence to seven products in the top 20, up from just two last week. It includes three outings for the Everyday Value brand. Aquafresh and Alberto Balsam are two brands featuring twice each in the basket this time.
Waitrose: Three Waitrose own labels get into the top 20 online health and beauty basket including two Essential Waitrose lines. Baby products are prominent, accounting for a quarter of the lines this week. Several products are reduced by around a third, compared with last week; including Niquitin Clear 21mg Patches Step 1 (7), down 33% to £8.15 this time.
