The year-on-year decline in shopper footfall is expected to stablise in September, according to Synovate Retail Performance’s weathermaps of retail traffic.

The latest series of three maps show the percentage change last month in relation to the same month last year, the percentage change last month in relation to the previous month, and the percentage change predicted for the coming month based on data from the past five years.

Brighter spells are forecast for September, despite back to school campaigns coming to a close it, said.

In August, however, shop-focused rioting in towns and cities across the country decimated retail footfall.
