Wanzl has launched a compact, light shopping trolley called Tango City, which it claims is the perfect companion for city stores and specialised outlets looking to provide customers with contemporary retail convenience.

The stylish contrast of elegant anthracite for the trolley basket and fresh, appealing colours for the basket flap and handle, distinguish the City model as an eye-catching newcomer to the larger shopping trolleys in the growing Tango range, according to Jason Adams, head of self-service for Wanzl UK.

Visually petite, the Tango City provides a handy 75-litre load capacity; while lightweight, nimble handling makes it ideal for narrower aisles in smaller store formats, said Adams. Gently contoured plastic edges help prevent snagging or damage to clothing and fabrics.

An attractive yet robust honeycomb structure of the plastic basket contributes to low overall trolley weight and ensures the Tango City is compatible with EAS labelling and the latest RFID technologies, said Wanzl.

Standard features include durable, smooth-running Wanzl castors, which are claimed to ensure effortless, near-silent operation on both smooth or uneven surfaces. In addition, plastic deflector rings protect the castors and in-store equipment alike.

The integrated child seat provides secure seating for a child or, with the seat insert folded up, can be used to create a storage space for smaller, delicate items. The ergonomic ‘Promobox S Grip’ handle incorporates a coin deposit locking system for additional security and a useful, highly visible advertising area.

Another practical detail is the contoured grip on the front of the basket, which can be used to pull the trolley comfortably, said Adams. The Tango City’s modern open chassis also improves safety by providing plenty of legroom and helps to reduce the risk of stock losses, he added.

To preserve space in the basket, Wanzl offers a tray for PET containers as an optional extra, which can be retrofitted on request. The colour of the plastic components can be also customised on request to complement brand and store identity.

Wanzl’s Tango plastic trolley range now comprises The 75l Tango City, 90l, 160l and 220l with a Tango 240l soon to be introduced.
