heltenham-based clothing brand Weird Fish has just opened its 14th retail store, within Scarborough’s prime retail district of Westborough.
The town centre unit, previously occupied by Costa, covers a ground floor sales area of approximately 1,200sq ft. The new store features Weird Fish’s brand new, bright and contemporary store fit concept.
Weird Fish has kept true to its laid back, coastal-inspired roots in a new store design, while giving it a fresh but familiar twist. With nods to a fun nautical theme, tranquil colours and elements of greenery, Weird Fish has strived to bring the outdoors indoors in this new store concept.
To celebrate Weird Fish’s arrival in Scarborough, a grand launch party is planned for Wednesday August 9 which will include a special visit from artist Julia Gash. Julia will be doing a live artist demonstration throughout the day, with one of her bespoke tote bags free with every purchase. The clothing brand has been selling Julia’s tote bags in its Weymouth, Newquay, Truro and York stores which have been well received by shoppers.
John Stockton, managing director at Weird Fish, said: “We have worked hard to bring our new store vision to life, it is a real move on for us and we are delighted to have opened it in the fantastic seaside town of Scarborough. We are really pleased Julia is joining us for the opening, and will be designing a unique piece of artwork on the day, especially for the store.”
As one of the UK’s favourite lifestyle leisure brands, Weird Fish has come a long way since creating its first T-shirt back in 1993, and is renowned for its relaxed and easy going collection, designed to give you that ‘forever weekend’ feeling.
Many Weird Fish stores are located in popular holiday destinations including Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and York. The opening of the Scarborough store in the UK’s original seaside resort will coincide with the start of the brand’s busy holiday retail season.
Weird Fish’s AW17 range combines everything the brand is loved for, including its instantly recognisable Macaroni sweatshirt, in addition to fresh and colourful weekend wear such as harem pants, jersey skirts and tunics for women as well as fleeces and checked shirts for men.
John Stockton, managing director at Weird Fish, added: “We are really excited about opening our second store in Yorkshire and feel that Scarborough is a great location for us. We can’t wait to show off our new store.”
The new store is located at 1 Westborough, Scarborough, YO11 1UH.
Weird Fish boasts 14 branded stores and stockists include Debenhams, Cotswold Outdoor and Blacks Leisure.
